Customer App Settings
The Customer App Settings feature in Syteville allows you to customize and enable/disable the Progressive Web App (PWA) that comes with every website. This PWA enables customers to download and install your website as an app on their devices. Customer App Settings is located under the Settings tab in the Left Sidebar, as the seventh option at the top left. This guide explains how to configure your app settings to enhance the mobile experience for your customers.
Accessing Customer App Settings
- Navigate to Customer App Settings: In the Left Sidebar, click Settings, then select Customer App Settings (the seventh option at the top left).
Configuring Customer App Settings
You can use the on/off toggle to enable or disable the ability for customers to install the PWA app from your website. The Customer App Settings section includes several customization options to brand and configure your PWA app.
App Information
App Title: Enter the title displayed when the app is opened (e.g., "Your Store App").
App Name: Enter the name displayed on the customer's phone after download (e.g., "Your Store").
App Description: Provide a description of the app (maximum 200 characters).
App Background Color: Select the background color for the app.
App Theme Color: Select the theme color that appears in the app's interface and browser UI.
App Icons
Upload app icons in multiple sizes to ensure compatibility across different devices:
App Image (128x128.png): Icon for smaller screens.
App Image (144x144.png): Icon for medium screens.
App Image (152x152.png): Icon for iOS devices.
App Image (180x180.png): Icon for larger iOS screens.
App Image (256x256.png): Icon for high-resolution displays.
App Image (512x512.png): Icon for the largest screens and app stores.
App Store Links
Google Play Store App URL: Enter the URL to your app in the Google Play Store.
Apple App Store App URL: Enter the URL to your app in the Apple App Store.
These links will be automatically added to your website's footer, making it easy for customers to download the app from official stores.
App Download Instructions
At the bottom of the Customer App Settings page, you'll find instructions for customers on how to download the PWA app to their devices:
Android: Tap the "Add to Home Screen" prompt that appears when visiting your website in Chrome.
iPhone: Tap the Share button in Safari, then select "Add to Home Screen."
Laptop/Desktop: Click the install icon in the browser's address bar or right-click and select "Install."
Saving Changes
Once you've configured all the app settings, uploaded the required icons, and entered the app store links, click the Save button. This will generate the app manifest file and make the PWA available for customers to download and install from your website.
